Better career progression through driving IMPACT

Drive IMPACT for better Career Progression

Compensation and career advancement are correlated but not synonymous.

Your compensation grows as a result of the impact you make. Impact is the driving force behind career progression – it is the input that fuels success.

Now impact has 2 key factors - Skill and Environment.

IMPACT = Skill X Environment

Among these 2 factors, Skill is what you have direct control over. While the Environment you have little to no control.

So it's not just the Skill, but also the Environment. If you make decisions only based on the Skills you have (or will develop) in a certain role, then it only leads to frustration, because most often our impact at work is linked -- even if your role is IC in nature.

And the variables of your Environment (resources, manager, culture) are just as important as the variables of skill (communication, leadership, execution).
